We were supposed to go to dinner all the way in Spokane tonight but with the kids both at friends' houses we decided we would explore closer by. 'Where should we go?' And we proceeded to name every nice restaurant in the area especially since we were so dressed up. We know fleur d'sel is always booked but we were able to get a last minute reservation. Btw- be sure to always make reservations. Thank God they could fit us in!! We shared some champagne and appetizers, ran into some old friends and new, and loved our quail and short ribs. Although it may seem 'anti-american' the service is purposefully slow so we can enjoy each other's company and not be rushed. The location may be 'against the grain' but homey and fancy at the same time. It never disappoints.

Can't say enough good things about Fleur de Sel. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Will be making this my new favorite special occasion restaurant. What a hidden gem for our area.

Stunning surprise, recommend. Passed thru town and happened to bring fleur del sel on my restaurant search list. Menu looked good and went for dinner. Everything I ate and drank was amazing. The atmosphere was dressy on a golf course. I was underdressed but warmly greeted. French food that taste great, good service, nice atmosphere, great view

This place is awesome! I love the menu, and as a non-adventurous eater that says a a lot! There are many things that we have ordered over the years, but I have to say that here, my favorite course always has to be dessert! There is always something different and very delicious. The owners are usually out greeting the tables and really making their guests feel important!

This is our favorite restaurant for special celebrations and it never fails to surpass our expectations! The food is always spectacular with a unique variety of appetizers and entrees. Crab and ricotta beignets, Quail with foie gras, lamb, etc. and vegetarian options some GF. For our anniversary we were given complimentary orange wine made "in house". Everything is superb, a gastronomic experience you should make a point to treat yourself to!

First, the service is excellent; that alone should get 5 stars. The pate and salad is 5 stars. But the problem is the main course. The veal quantity is a phenomenal but lacks seasoning, however the mayonaise sauce did jazz it up a bit. The chicken was tough, maybe free range chickens are training for the olympics. The wines were very good and again the service was exceptional for the nothwest. Would we go back yes! for the appetizers, salad and desert. Then it would get a rating of 5 stars.

What am I missing - there are so many glowing reviews about this place that you would think it would be a gastronomic nirvana but I came away rather underwhelmed. The place reminds you of a country club restaurant, views of the golf course, walking in through a day spa. Most of the clientele could have come in from playing a round of golf or taking people to 'their club' for a meeting. Overall the ambience is good, although it can get loud and every once in a while you get a whiff of the overly perfumed lotions used in the massage rooms which can be slightly annoying. 3 Stars The menu, which changes only 4 times a year, was rather banal and dated, rather than leading or inventing it appears they are following the field by several years. The other thing is that they presented themselves as a French/Mediterranean restaurant but the lack of fish on the menu stood out like a menu faux pas. 2.5 Stars I will admit that they were very busy when we went but that should not be an excuse for poor service. I will credit to our server, she was trying hard and obviously over-worked but still sitting and waiting for almost 10 minutes for being acknowledged is a little much. I won't ding them a star but if I went again and this lack of wait staff was a chronic issue they would lose another star. (2 Stars at the beginning of the evening, 4 stars near the end - but this is not counted in my total) As far as the food goes I must admit that out of four plates only one was very good. For starters we had the Spanish flatbread, the bread was more like a deep-fried tortilla, slightly greasy and with a grainy texture. The Romesco was lacking in the traditional pepper flavor instead it had much more tomato than traditional Romesco's usually have. This was not very good and we did not finish it. 1.5 Stars The next dish was the Tuna Carpaccio, unfortunately the tuna was very fresh (NOTE: It was in no way bad or turning bad but it lost that freshness that 1 or 2 day old tuna had) so it was a disappointment, however the side of quinoa and jicama salad was excellent, perhaps they should serve that as a side salad. 2.5 Stars The main entrees consisted of a veal ravigote, now I am a lover of capers but this sauce was simply overpowering in capers and gherkins flavor plus it was too acidic and was not exactly what I would call a winner although my companion thought it was very good. 3 Stars The other entree was the Rabbit with a pistachio Ballotine this dish was excellent and if I was just rating the place on this one dish it would have been almost 5 stars, since they forgot to include the melted potato cake that was advertised on the menu. 5 Stars As far as value goes, IF everything would have been very good to excellent the value would have been superb. Prices are reasonable even for wine and alcoholic beverages. But since the food was not as good as it should have been the value is can only be 3 Stars, get the food right and it would be a five. 3 Stars. Total 3 Stars Would I go back, yes to try a new menu and see if the food can live up to its hype.

Being new to the area, and hearing about Fleur de Sel, DH and I decided to have our anniversary dinner there. Truthfully, we were kinda disappointed. The food was good, not great. The prices were fair. Our waiter was not terribly attending. The space, while nice, didn't offer the kind of quiet ambiance for which we had hoped, it was downright loud. We will go again, but will not consider Fleur de Sel as our go-to place for a romantical dinner for two.

Bonjour, Recently I had the pleasure of dinning at Fleur de Sel. I, Dick Darlington am all too familiar with many of the so-called "French bistro" types of restaurants in America. The Fleur de Sel however is different. The food here very much reminded of me the types of food which I have been served at different cafes in Paris, France. In my opinion, the quality of the food is compatible with any top French restaurants in this country. The service was also first class. There is no question that I shall return to this delightful restaurant whenever I can. Sincerely, Dick Darlington

If it's a special occasion to celebrate or we just want to have the finest French cuisine in the Pacific Northwest, this is where we go. Wonderful service, exquisite food, and fine wine. You can't do any better than this.

My family has been here twice and loved the experience both times. Staff is friendly, we are always seated right away and drinks and order taking happen quickly. If there is something on the menu we are unsure about, we have been offered a small sample to try first to see if it would be to our liking. The food has always been cooked to perfection and pleasantly presented. I would only suggest to never order the Dirty Gargoyle I only finished due to the price.

We had an amazing dining experience. 2 appetizers, we split a salad, 2 entrees, and a bottle of champagne and the whole meal didn't even break the bank. The food was great as well as the service. I would recommend this for anyone that wants to have a great date night!

We sat on the patio which had a nice view of highlands golf course. The service started out slow but once we got our drink order in they were very attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine and our glass got topped off before it was empty. :) The food and service were great! Definitely will be back and recommend to others!

Chef gets up early every morning and makes his own sauces in that old, classically trained way...all for us. How we are lucky enough to have this fine genuine French food and lovely service in this area is a mistery to me. This place, the service, the food - truly beyond words. Visual and culinary perfection comes to mind. These stars should be Michelin.

Well worth the drive from Spokane. Great french food at very reasonable prices. Don't miss the chicken with truffles and any of the desserts. We're luck to have a restaurant like this in the area. This place would do well anywhere in the world!

This place is amazing. Great service! Prices are reasonable for the great food and atmosphere. Seemed like a lot of half hoyti toyti folks there, dressed half nice in shirts with no ties but I hardly noticed while paying attention to my hot Scottish date and enjoying the fine wine our aussie waiter from Sandpoint was filling to our glasses' brims.

Very friendly and polite service. The restaurant itself was beautiful I only wish It was summer so i could have dined on the patio so I could enjoy the incredible view even more. Oh well, ill just have to go again which wont be a problem considering the food was delicious. The snails with puff pastry were delicious. I have never had snails before but I can now say that I love them. The lamb cheeks melted in my mouth. I will definitely return soon.

Amazing!! Very high quality across the board...something I would expect in DC. They were very happy to please my 4 year old, and she gobbled up the pate. The pate, btw, was take home worthy...it was so amazing! We had pate, the goat cheese salad, sweetbreads and gnocchi, chicken and truffle ravioli, and the kids macaroni and cheese. We ended with a macaroon and a caramel. Simply Devine. We made a reservation a few days prior, and were actually late by about 12 minutes. They held our reservation for the standard 15 minutes, thankfully! Very quiet place, and small...in a good way! You can tell the chef loves his job, he has specials! We didn't finish in time to order the dessert special. I highly recommend this place for a date night, and singles night...or any other dinner out!

This place is a true gem in this area. Every meal I have enjoyed here has turned out to be one of those magical, spiritual highs. From the minute you arrive, Patrice warmly welcomes you, a European kiss on the cheek then off to your table. White tablecloths and instant recocnition from a server with water. The waitstaff are all exempary, though I love it when Harry is our waiter. He has a great knowledge of the ample wine list and wonderful skill at food pairing. So many spectacular choices. The menu changes seasonally offering the best local ingredients transformed by a true master French trained chef. That would be Laurant. Foie gras panna cotta. Sublime. It is a delicate mousse with rhubarb jam, black truffles, and house made crackers. Charred baby octopus. Wow! who knew it could be so wonderful? To me it is as tender as perfectly cooked pasta with the most sublime, delicate ocean flavor, it was served with a not too much curry flavored cauliflower puree. Main courses may include duck confit, it is a staple here and is one menu item that has lasted on the menu for as long as I have been going. It comes with a leg thigh section as well as a duck sausage they make there. Once they had beef short ribs and OMG. Just do it. I have NEVER had even the faintest disapointment here. I have often made my dinner choice by the creative sides paired with the entree. Desserts are also delightful. All made in house with such love, skill and precision. Just go here, but make sure you make a reservation!

So apparently the Ipod has been found. And it was no ones fault other than the busser who stole it from us. I can't get into the details about it because its still an ongoing case, but what in fact happened that I wrote my review about was all real. The owners tried to play it off like we must have made a mistake and misplaced it, while not considering the fact an employee acutally stole it. You should be ashamed of your employee, and owe my father a sincere apology, and in my opinion owe us all a dinner.

My boyfriend and I decided to go here on a whim. I found the restaurant on yelp, and called ahead to make reservations. I called about 30 minutes before we arrived and they had no issue setting up a table for us. When we arrived to the restaurant it definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but it was a pleasant surprise. The location is a bit strange, but as soon as you enter the dining area you're swept off your feet with the low-key music, cozy atmosphere, and romantic lighting. As a waitress myself the first thing I pay attention to is the quality of service, and the moment we walked in we were greeted and sat. Our waitress was polite, and did an amazing job, although we didn't catch her name. We ordered two appetizers, shared a salad, an entree for each of us and shared two different desserts and everything was amazing, the presentation, the food quality and the service. The bar is absolutely gorgeous, and everything that came out of their kitchen was beautiful, you can really tell that the kitchen knows what they're doing. Another thing I noticed was the seemingly flawless communication between the staff. The kitchen was never yelling at our waitress, and people weren't getting angry at having to sit and wait forever to be attended to. Though there were only two servers on the floor that I was aware of, and one hostess everything was timed immaculately and played out like a well rehearsed dance. Absolutely great place I would definitely recommend. Every time customers come to my work looking for a more upscale restaurant to try this is the place I tell them about. I was greatly pleased with everything here, and we will definitely return!

Woot! This is a gem. I had been trying to go to this lovely place for the better part of two years, but had never really had the pleasure. Low and behold a spur of the moment tinge of hunger and adjacency to the locale prompted a spontaneous change. Super impressive. The ingredients used were definitely from scratch. The best potatoes au gratin I have ever had in my life, A pumpkin tart made from real non canned pumpkin with a butter crust and spiced mousse!, amazing lamb bourgonone, shrimp avocado caprese, and crispy fried duck bites. There was nothing at this restaurant that failed to appease. I will definitely be returning! Probably by far the best dining experience in the last year :).

I am so thankful that Laurent and Patricia decided to move to Post Falls. We came when the restaurant first opened and the quality hasn't changed with time. We've eaten around the world and the food and service is a good as anywhere we've traveled without the "sticker shock". Only negative comments that I have seen from other reviews are related to the small size and needing reservations. Just make a RESERVATION, FLEUR DE SEL IS WORTH IT. Patricia would love to have late seating after 9 pm-like in large Metro areas and Europe but no one eats that late in the Inland Northwest. Also remember diners should plan on 2 1/2 hours to eat so that why tables aren't available for walk ins. We went during Restaurant Week and Rennee' , our server, was excellent as always. The pacing, presentation and quality still excellent even have the fix prix and regular menu. Unlike other restaurants, they have a dedicated water, bread, and bus person so you don't have plates still on the table with the next item arrives and have some contact if you need something if your server isn't available. I would much rather have some fill my water glass on the table and hand me the bread basket shortly after I sit down that wait and make a big presentation and then not see anyone for 15 minutes which is becoming more popular.

My wife and I just got home from celebrating our anniversary at Fleur de Sel, a French restaurant in Post Falls, and one of the best restaurants at which I've ever eaten. We started with six pieces of seared ahi tuna, wrapped in delicate pastry, served with a Harissa sauce. The next starter was charred baby octopus (our favorite dish of the evening), with roasted onions and Portobello and sweet and sour piperade. Our third course was foie gras panna cotta and sliced truffle, which was rich and creamy. For our mains, my wife had a goat cheese summer salad with pistachios and shaved fennel, while I tried the shrimp, avocado, and mozzarella salad with a delectable basil oil. To end our meal, we each had a chocolate Parisian macaroon with jalapeno preserve. I walked over to the kitchen pass to thank the chef for a wonderful meal, and after our conversation, he offered us a complimentary second dessert of chocolate ganache and soft caramel tart, topped with a sprinkle of fleur de sel and Chantilly cream on the side. Truly, this was one of the most memorable and enjoyable dining experiences of my life. Laurent and Patricia Zirotti have a phenomenal restaurant that never ceases to delight, as well as a seasonal menu with tantalizing dishes. This is unquestionably the best restaurant in the area, and foodies of Eastern Washington and North Idaho are truly missing out if they have not visited Fleur de Sel.

If you are looking for some amazing food...this is the place. Having traveled to France several times, I can say that this is as good or better than any place that I dinned while there. Don't let the location fool or discourage you...it is worth it!

Favorite Restaurant for dinner in CDA/Post Falls- Something unique to the area which should not be overlooked, even if it's hidden away up at avondale golf course. The first time my wife came to the restaurant, we had an amazing meal, was visited table-side by the Head Chef/Owner, and were given complimentary creme puffs in addition to our dessert order! We couldn't move after the whole experience was done, but were both in agreement that it was the best meal we've ever experienced in the area. We've been bringing back friends and family ever since, and no meal has disappointed. The restaurant has an upscale feel in relation to most restaurants in the area, but is not at all pretentious, and very reasonable in regards to price. Service if very friendly and helpful, only wish it was in CDA so it was a bit closer!

Exquisitely tastey and generously proportioned, this gem in Post Falls is the perfect location to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. We had a special night out with our foodie friends who rate FDS as one of their favorites in the Spokane-CDA area. Service was great, and both owners (who are French themselves) were in the house making us feel right at home.

I've traveled to France several times and have eaten at many great French restaurants. This restaurant tries to pull off a "French" menu but it doesn't compare. If you're looking for a true French experience don't expect to get it here. Service was extremely slow.

I took my wife here the week of our wedding - wanted something fun, different (for the area) and delicious that'd help get us ready for the pending festivities that accompany a huge marriage ceremony. Despite having lived in the area for several years and having heard of FDS several times, I'd never tried it before. The restaurant is quaint - you don't typically find much worth mentioning in the back room above a spa. My wife and I found this to be a plus, not a negative - we had no idea what to expect, and this only intensified the anticipation. From the get-go you very much realize that the owners love what they do - I've heard before they both came from France, and whether it's true or not, I could definitely see how that might be the case. Our server was very helpful walking us through the menu, explaining the specials, and making recommendations for an appetizer. The wine selection was both good and reasonably priced - a plus for any restaurant, let alone a specialty shop that typically charges an arm and a leg for a local wine I could pick up at the grocery for less than $30 a bottle. I ordered the rabbit, and my wife ordered the organic, local chicken. The rabbit was cooked particularly well, and the potato cake was a beautiful addition for flavor and presentation. My wife said her chicken was good, but paled in comparison to my dish, which is not to say hers was bad by any means, but the sense from the menu was confirmed by our order - not all dishes are equal. We're definitely going back, and after having "shopped around" for other comparable meals in the Post Falls/CDA area I can truly say there are few other places to eat around here that are in the same league (Spokane residents should try Mizzuna , Luna or Sante - all have slightly better menus than FDS, but for the CDA areas, FDS is better for quality and value than places like Cedars, The Cellar, Dockside, etc). For small-town, small-shop French cuisine, Fleur De Sel delivers and probably exceeds expectations of most from the area.

We were so surprised to find this wonderful family owned restaurant in Post Falls Idaho.Great food, service and atmosphere. The owner spent time with us at out table talking food and travel. The food is almost like being in France. Best gnocchi I have ever had!

Brilliant! Flawless! The crown jewel of dining in Northern Idaho! A perfect combination of a creative menu leaning to French and Mediterranean standards with stellar execution in the kitchen by a most talented "husband owner" / chef resulting in fabulous food. Professional service by the wait staff balanced with warm hospitality by the "wife owner" for top notch front of house experience. Ambiance that is both a little casual and a little elegant almost seeming to call out "bienvenue!". And to top it all off, prices are ultra reasonable. Six stars!!! Friends who live in CDA were eager to introduce us to this marvelous place last week. We were equally as eager to try it. We arrived with high expectations. We eft with expectations exceeded!. If you're in the area, this is a "MUST GO". If we didn't live seven hours drive away, we'd be regular customers with a goal of dining our way through the entire menu! Here's why: AMBIANCE - WARM, INVITING, VIEWS from some indoor tables and patio seating outside. This is an odd location, at the back of a building that also houses a Day Spa in the Highlands golf community but they've made the most of it. A white table linens kind of place without being fussy. The sense of welcome was palpable and reinforced by the charming owner as she circulated during the evening. MENU - EXTRAORDINARY for creativity and breadth of options with some twists on French standards and Mediterranean focused options sure to have several "somethings" to please all diners. Menu creation and seasonal management is an art in a restaurant and it is so very well done here. SERVICE- TOP NOTCH, from the greeting at the door to the seating at your table, though every phase of table service. The waiter knew the menu and could both answer questions and make recommendations. That he highly recommended the duck confit when I asked about it in comparison to another dish is something for which I am MOST grateful! The timing of each phase of our meal, from small plate openers to the soup course, to entrees and dessert was just right. There was just a bit of "I do not suffer fools gladly" in the waiter's approach, but as busy as he was that evening, it's understandable. FOOD - STELLAR execution by the talented chef resulting in incredibly flavorful and beautifully plated food...a feast for all the senses! You likely can't go wrong with any choice here. We tried several things, each one a winner. So we'll recommend some of the many memorable options we enjoyed... ... crab potato "beignets" - perfectly seasoned, crispy outside and unctuous inside bite sized morsels served in a paper lined "cone" ...flatbread with oven roasted tomatoes, cheese and shaved fennel ...tomato avocado salad, perfectly composed and dressed ...penne with robust, tomato sauce punctuated with roasted garlic cloves and capers and topped with chevre gratinee ...scallops and shrimp perfectly cooked and in a lovely cream and vermouth sauce on a bed of spaghettini ...delectable duck confit served with scrumptious duck sausage and accompanied by an outstanding vegetable ragout. ...sinfully good flour less chocolate cake served with milk chocolate gelato and jalapeno coulis BEVERAGES: INTERESTING wine list by the glass or bottle including MANY AFFORDABLE options. We were delighted to find a good French sparkler on the menu for under $6 a glass and served in a generous pour. Overall wine prices across the menu were similarly good values. VALUE: OUTSTANDING. We were surprised at how low the prices were for the premium quality meal and memorable dining experience. As example, the duck confit at $18, the pasta with goat cheese for about $13 ($10 as option without the cheese) and a six rib rack of lamb was on the menu for only about $23...substantially less than what we'd pay at top notch restaurants elsewhere. That the bill for four of us for an amazing meal that included a couple of soups, a couple of appetizers, a salad as entree, three hot entrees, a dessert and four beverages came to only about $110 including tax, under $30 each, seemed a bargain! TIP: Make reservations...seating for only about 30 inside at tables and a few more seats at the bar. Patio seating is first come.

A north Idaho MUST. We used to enjoy Laurant's food in Billings when he ran Enzo's. Fleur De Sel is even better! Fantastic dining room, very cozy and warm.
